Description
I am not a jewelry dealer and know practically nothing about this topic. Ergo, I brought this item to the 2013 Antiques Roadshow stop in Kansas City. All of the item particulars come from this appraisal. This 1920's era watch belonged to my great-aunt. When she passed away in 1992 it became the property of my mother. She had it cleaned at that time and it worked just fine. However, it has sat in a drawer for the past 22 years and currently doesn't work.
The appraiser didn't see this as a problem. He stated that another cleaning would probably bring this item back to life. He confirmed that the watch was from the 1920's or very early 1930's. The jeweled movement was made in Europe (Swiss) and shipped to the United States where it was matched with the white gold case. At the time of the appraisal, the value of the gold in the watch was estimated to be a little over 0. (The price of gold has risen substantially in the past eight years.) The retail value of the item was quoted as between 5 - 0.
The face of the watch includes the words "Racine Quicktime." The band is stamped A & Z. 14K gold filled.
The shipping charge includes 0 in insurance coverage as well as delivery confirmation.
