    Description

Old Pullman O scale/gauge 2-rail 3-way or lap switch, no. 6. Code .148 nickel silver rail matching Atlas. 24 inches long. Pre-owned but never been laid on ties or used. Rails no longer held in gauge but appears complete and ready to lay on your ties.
For the past 30 years or so, Old Pullman had been the turnout builder of choice for many modelers. For good reason: Its turnouts and other trackwork were top-notch, high-quality, consistently accurate, dependable products, which is one reason they sell quickly here at eBay and at swap meets.
Old Pullman is no longer making (or importing from Switzerland) its superb, high-quality turnouts. O Scale Turnouts, a Hamburg, MI, company, seems to have succeeded them, which is good because we need a manufacturer of quality turnouts in O scale/gauge in a variety of turnout sizes and rail codes. Like Old Pullman, however, O Scale Turnouts' products also are pricey. Retail for a no. 8 code .148 turnout currently is ! Old Pullman's turnouts reached that level and beyond before it quit. And because they were of such high quality and revered by modelers, they've kept their value on the used market, even increasing in price. I've seen Old Pullman turnouts offered here at eBay for as high as 5 and then watched them sell for even more!
A 3-way switch like this one currently retails from O Scale Turnouts for 5! Don't believe it? I couldn't either. But it's true. Why so expensive? for starters, because there are 3 turnouts in it. Priced separately, at each, they would add up to 0. And then they need to be lapped. That customizing adds to the cost too.
These unique and fascinating 3-way switches are a great space-saving alternative to a conventional ladder lead in a yard. I used one on the lead to a coal tipple and then another on the tail end after the tipple to save valuable space and make a long, large track arrangement like that feasible in a reasonable length space. Not only will it save you space, which is one reason why the prototype railroads use them, but it will save you money.
If you've ever wanted or needed one, now's the time to grab this one, which I've priced (started) at a deep discount -- two-thirds the price of current retail.
