A South Carolina mom is reportedly suing Mattel over a misprint on packaging for “Wicked” dolls that directed children to a website featuring pornographic material.
A class action lawsuit obtained by TMZ claims the plaintiff and her daughter were exposed to “hardcore, full on nude pornographic images depicting actual intercourse” when they visited the URL printed on the back of the toy’s box.
Mattel intended to direct customers who purchased the merchandise to a website that includes previews of the family-friendly witch-flick featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Instead, the URL led to a pornographic site, prompting Mattel to issue a recall of the defective products.
It’s unclear how much the mom and daughter are asking to be compensated for the experience that left them both “horrified.” The toymaker has not responded to a request for comment with regards to the lawsuit.
In a statement to the Daily News in November, Mattel said it was aware of the misprint and was working to resolve the problem.
“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel ‘Wicked’ collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the company wrote. “We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this.”

According to Deadline, it’s debut weekend set a record for the biggest global and domestic opening for a movie based on a Broadway show by taking in $112.5 million domestically and $162.5 million worldwide. The film is based on the hit musical of the same name that opened on Broadway in 2003.
